Greetings.

On December 14th 2002 at approximately 4:15PM the original 2kc.org went live and rapidly grew in to a large and closely knit community of people who all shared a common interest in anything with a motor in it. Typically cars, trucks, and motorcycles. We even threw insane parties which are still considered legendary to this very day. Things were awesome for about 2 years until a bitter disagreement occurred between two of the key players in the mid-michigan automotive scene. Long story short, the community stood sharply divided and things began to die down. 2kc saw a come back in 2005 with the creation of the 2kc motorfest car show (which was a huge success) and things began to bounce back. 2006 saw a great year as well, but things really began to die down again shortly thereafter. The entire community began to crumble, the economy went to hell, and things just fell apart. Many of us went our separate ways. We graduated college, got full time jobs, got married, even had a kid or two. A few years ago, I decided to take 2kc down indefinitely.

On Sunday June 13th, 2010 I received word that one of our most valued original members died in a tragic car accident. On little to almost no notice, and most people without even thinking twice, all gathered at one of the parking lots that we used to hang out in and it was the busiest it has been in quite some time. Most of us that were there hadn't seen or spoke to one another in years.

It wasn't until tonight that I realized just how big of an impact 2kc/the community/the scene (whatever you want to call it) had on my life, and so many others. In several ways, it truly has helped shaped me in to the person I am today. For me, it really wasn't about cars. For the record, i'm not mechanically inclined at all. Truth be told, if I tried to change the oil in my car it would probably turn in to a complete disaster. I enjoyed meeting all the people, hosting parties, organizing events, doing the nerd stuff -- like creating & maintaining 2kc. I've met so many incredible people and learned so many things that I really can't even wrap my head around it. All of you have inspired me over the years to do so many amazing things that words can not express my gratitude. Nearly everything "questionable" or "crazy" was influenced by all of you. Cars come and go, and sadly people come and go. A concept that has been hard for me to grasp, is that times, people, and various circumstances change. As each day passes, things will never be the same. I've finally came to terms with that after all these years of asking myself "what the hell happened?".

A sad reality describing the end? Hardly. We're still young and you're only as old as you feel. Things won't be the same... so what? It doesn't mean that it's time to throw in the towel. Just because you grow old or things in your life change doesn't mean that fun and staying close to your friends has to stop. It simply changes a little bit. That being said, I am putting 2kc back ONLINE indefinitely. 2kc will not be car focused anymore (but there will be places to discuss this on the forum). It will be centered around our lives in general and things going on. I've always told myself that i'd never stop 'til i've had enough. I THOUGHT I had enough. I was wrong. Life is too short and I intend to spend it doing the things I love. One of those things is running this forum and organizing crazy & questionable things.

The way I see it, this is simply the beginning.
